Laser Tattoo Removal

Sometimes a tattoo may no longer have meaning to you anymore, or perhaps your tattoos need to be partially removed so a cover up tattoo can be performed.

Whatever the reason may be for wanting your tattoo removed, know that it can be safely and efficiently performed at Kauai Aesthetics with the newest technology in tattoo laser removal.

How It Works

When it comes to laser tattoo removal nothing beats our FDA approved Picolazer. This dual wavelength laser provides tattoo removal by delivering extremely short and high-powered pico second laser pulses, which efficiently and quickly break down the ink particles in tattoos.

A pico second is one trillionth of a second, and is 1,000 times shorter than the nanosecond pulsed lasers currently utilized for tattoo removal.

Our Picolazer has been proven to remove tattoos more completely, with less discomfort and in fewer treatment sessions than traditional Q switched Lasers due to its advanced technology.

Number of Treatments Needed

The amount of treatments vary due to age, size, quality of the ink and color of the tattoo.
Treatments are typically done every 6 to 8 weeks, this is to ensure there is time for your body’s immune system and macrophages to filter the shattered ink particles out of your body.

Common Treatment Areas

The Picolazer is capable of treating tattoos placed on intact skin anywhere on the body.

Who Benefits

Tattoo removal can be beneficial for anyone looking to get rid of their tattoo or for those looking to partially remove a tattoo to prepare the area for a tattoo coverup.

What To Expect

The treatment area will be cleaned and topical anesthetic will be provided prior to the procedure.

What To Avoid

The treated tattoo will need to be kept covered for 72 hours with either Vaseline or Aquaphor to keep the area moist. The bandage should be changed daily and treated like you would treat a small burn.

After 72 hours you may remove the dressing and continue to apply lotion or a light covering of Aquaphor until the area is healed.

You should avoid strenuous exercise, sweating, sun exposure and keep out of pool’s , jacuzzi’s, ocean’s and lakes until the treated tattoo has fully healed to prevent infection and to promote proper wound healing.

It is always important with any laser treatment to be mindful of your sun exposure for 1-2 weeks pre and post procedure for best results and to wear sunscreen.

This procedure should not be done on areas of recently tanned skin, sunburned skin or skin that has been spray tanned.
